The woods are my favorite place in the world. Perhaps it's because I grew up with woods all around me in the Pacific Northwest. Maybe it's because most of the beautiful hikes I've ever taken meander through deep woods at some point. It could also be because of the stillness when the branches, needles, moss and leaves muffle all sounds but the rustle of the wind and the song of birds. Indeed, it is all that and more that makes the forest so enchanting to the soul.
