"Art is not always about pretty things. It's about who we are, what happened to us, and how our lives are affected." - Elizabeth Broun
For most of you, art is very personal. It reminds you of a special place, a person you love, your childhood home, or simply highlights your favorite colors. Art must do something personal and tell your story. Most of you don't buy my paintings because they are just pretty or fashionable. This is what you tell me:
I love when my art tells your story. This happens in the most beautiful way when you commission me to do a painting of something that is special to you. I get to be an insider in your story. I get to recreate that memorable place, that day, that moment, that house. And you get to see it come to life.
Some of the commissions I do are given as gifts. Adult children in a family pool their money to commission a piece for their parent as an anniversary gift. Sometimes a family is moving and want a painting of their old home as a memory. One family commissioned me to do two large paintings of their farm in different seasons.

Commissioned Painting - Woodruff Place, Indianapolis, IN - In the fall of 2016 some friends commissioned me to paint this piece. They had just moved to the Woodruff Place neighborhood and wanted a painting of their new street. The fall colors as a backdrop against the fountains were particularly striking to me. This painting now hangs proudly above the fireplace in their living room.
